Open Roses

I feel like I always see roses pictured with tightly closed buds on long stems, preferably red. I think there's more to the flower than cliched perfection. I love them after a few days when they open wide and start dropping petals. It seems like a shame if they don't unfurl and reach their full potential. Something about these yellow and pink ones always gets me too: the hint of pink on the edges of the outside petals, I feel a little disappointed at the all-yellow petals in the they could have tried harder or something. Yet they provide the contrast that makes the pink ones so exciting.  Have I over-thought this? Probably. Here are the resulting photos. Prints at:
